Lieutenant Andrew Theodore began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked in corrections and patrol from 2007 to 2009. From 2009 – 2014, he served as a Police Officer with the Sonora Police Department. In addition to patrol, he held assignments as a Field Training Officer and Drug impairment Recognition Expert.
Lieutenant Theodore came to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in 2014. Lieutenant Theodore held assignements as a Field Training Officer, Community Car deputy and as a member of the Community Special Enforcement Team (CSET).
From 2016 to 2018, Lieutenant Theodore was transferred to the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force where he conducted online child exploitation investigations and performed cellular and computer forensic examinations for our Investigations Division.
Following promotion to Sergeant in 2018, Lieutenant Theodore oversaw the Community Car unit, Airport, and School Resource Deputy unit, and was the Patrol Division’s Administrative Sergeant until promoting to Lieutenant in 2021.
From 2021 to 2024, Lieutenant Theodore was the commander of the AGNET unit, reponsible for agricultural crime investigations, gang investigations, street level narcotics enforcment, high impact patrol, violent crime reduction, and fugitive apprehension.
Lieutenant Theodore is currently assigned to the Professional Standards Division, overseeing hiring and backgrounds, training, department policy, internal affairs and the public information unit.
