About The Division
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Unified Court Services Division provides court security to the four court facilities in San Joaquin County. This includes the management of in-custody inmates brought to court from the county jail and juvenile facilities, all temporary inmate holding cells, courtroom security as monitored by Court Bailiffs, as well as monitoring and response to all security issues within the courthouse.
The Stockton County Courthouse with its 13 stories and 28 courtrooms is the largest court facility in San Joaquin County and serves as the county’s central court facility. Lodi and Manteca, both with 2 courtrooms and inmate holding areas, serve North and South County respectively. Juvenile matters are handled at the Juvenile facility in French Camp.
The Sheriff’s Unified Court Services Division operates with a total allocation of 54 full-time and 48 part-time positions. This includes 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 5 Sergeants, 39 full-time Deputies, 8 Correctional Officers, and 48 part-time Deputies and Correctional Officers. A private non-sworn security company is utilized to monitor entry screening and after-hours courthouse security.
