Joe Silva was hired by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in August of 2007. Since then, He has served in the Patrol, Boating Safety and Court Services Division. While in these divisions he has received numerous lifesaving awards and was awarded the Stockton Rotary Officer of the year in 2017.
While serving in the Boating Safety Division he worked hard to become a Boating Accident Investigation instructor for the State of California. During his time in the Division, he also created a new program to keep unwanted watercraft from being abandoned our waterways. This program has been a proactive approach to a major challenge facing our San Joaquin Delta.
In 2022 he promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant he served In the Patrol Division and the Professional Standards Division. In these roles he enjoyed leading a team on a daily basis, mentoring the next generation and providing motivation to everyone he supervised.
In 2025 he promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he is currently assigned to the Special Services Division as the Community Car Lieutenant where he manages the Community car program, Motor Unit, Airport Security, Community Revitalization Unit, and School Resource Officers. He is enjoying his new role and is motivated to make the unit the best it can be. He also strives to serve the citizens of San Joaquin County with the highest level of service on a daily basis. Lieutenant Silva realizes we need the citizens partnership to make our county the safest it can be. He is always looking forward to creating new partnerships within our communities.
Lieutenant Silva is proud to call San Joaquin County home and looks forward to its bright future.
