Lieutenant Jared Pettitt began his career with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in 2002. He started on Patrol, which has been the building block of his career.
In 2006, he joined the department’s SWAT team and was soon promoted to Field Training Officer. In 2008, he was promoted to Detective and worked a variety of assignments which included Property, Gangs, and Homicide.
Jared was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2012 and supervised the Community Policing Unit and the SWAT team. In 2014, he was transferred to Internal Affairs.
In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he has also worked many assignments such as District Commander, Critical Response Team Commander, Interim Communications Center Director, and is currently a Patrol Watch Commander.
Lieutenant Pettitt received his B.A. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento. He has certifications in POST Supervisor, Management, Critical Incident Management, and Advanced Critical Incident Management.
