James White was hired by the Sheriff’s Office on August 27, 2001, as a Correctional Officer James was assigned to the pretrial and sentenced facilities. From November 2003, he worked as a Custody Training Officer until November 2005 when he transitioned into the Jail Classification Unit. In January 2014 he was assigned to the Professional Standards Division as a Correctional Training Officer as an Academy Instructor.
In 2016, James was promoted to Correctional Sergeant and has served as a facility Sergeant in the pretrial and sentenced facilities. In May of 2017 he returned to the Professional Standards Division as the Correctional Sergeant overseeing the Christopher J. Serpa Correction Academy and ensuring ongoing training standards were meet. In 2021, he was selected to become the Compliance Sergeant updating and reviewing Custody Policy and Procedures. In January 2023, he was selected as the Classification Sergeant ensuring inmate Classification procedures were met.
In January 2025, James was promoted to the rank of Correctional Lieutenant and currently is assigned as the Facilities Lieutenant.
