Lieutenant Jared Pettitt began his career with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in 2002 on Patrol. In 2003 he transferred to Lathrop Police Services.
In 2004 he joined SWAT and did that until 2006 when he was promoted to a Field Training Officer. In 2008 he was promoted to Detective and assigned to Property, Gang Specialist, and Homicide Unit. In 2012 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Patrol. In 2013, he became the Sergeant of the Community Policing Unit. In 2014, he became Sergeant of Internal Affairs and the SWAT Team Supervisor. In 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned as the Patrol District Commander and Critical Response Team Commander.
Three years later, he became the Watch Commander. In 2020, he became the Interim Communications Center Director. He also currently serves as a board member for the SJSO Law Enforcement Management Association.
Lieutenant Pettitt received his B.A. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento. He has his certifications in California POST Management, California POST Supervisor, Critical Incident Management, Advanced, and Critical Incident Management.
