Captain Michael Eastin began his law enforcement career with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. He was assigned as a Patrol Deputy and spent six years there, three of which as a Field Training Officer.
In 2010, Michael became a Detective assigned to the San Joaquin County Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force, where he investigated several significant drug trafficking organizations and offenders. He also helped run the unit’s clandestine laboratory and asset forfeiture teams.
In 2019, Michael was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he supervised a swing shift team on Patrol. During his time as a Sergeant, Michael also supervised the Sheriff’s Office’s Field Training Program, Canine Unit, and Off-Road Enforcement Team.
In 2022, Michael was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the Patrol Division as the Administrative Lieutenant. Michael’s responsibilities included oversight and management of the STARS program, the Mobile Law Enforcement Center, the Court Liaison, The Canine Unit, The Off-Road Enforcement Unit, and the Boating Safety Unit. Lieutenant Eastin is also the Law Enforcement Mutual Aid and Search and Rescue Coordinator for San Joaquin County and liaison to the Office of Emergency Services. He is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the vehicle fleet, equipment, MOUs, grants, the DRMO program, the budget for the Patrol Division, training newly promoted Sergeants, and maintaining the Master Schedule for the Patrol Division.
In 2024, Michael was promoted to the rank of Captain and took command of the Patrol Division, where he oversees all divisional deployments.
