Mike Alagna was hired by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office in June 2004 as a Deputy Sheriff and assigned to field forces. In 2007 he was assigned to the Ray Simon Police Academy as an RTO (Recruit Training Officer) for 7 months. In late 2007 Alagna was assigned to Detectives investigating Agriculture Crimes. In 2008 he was moved to the Persons Unit/Cold Case Team.

In May 2009, Alagna was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Patrol Division.

In early 2012 he was assigned to Unified Court Services to oversee Stockton Court operations. In May 2012, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division / Watch Commander. From 2014 to 2020, Alagna was assigned to Unified Courts Services as the Administrative Lieutenant to oversee all four county courthouses and the Judicial Protection Unit. In addition to Unified Courts, he also had the supervisory responsibility for the Civil Division of the Sheriff’s Office.

In August 2020, Lieutenant Alagna was assigned to Lathrop Police Services for two years, one as admin Lt and the second year as acting Chief. Now assigned to Patrol as Watch Commander for Team B-3.
