Custody Public Information Officer

Custody Public Information Officer Jennifer Kline began her career as a Correctional Officer at the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office on July 31, 2000.

Over the years, she has worked at all three jail facilities: Jail Core, South Jail, and the Honor Farm, both day and night shifts. During the early 2000s, she became a Correctional Training Officer and trained many new Correctional Officer Trainees.

In 2004, she was chosen by her peers to be a member of the Sheriff’s Office Peer Support team and is still an active member today.

In 2008 – 2013, she was selected to join the Transition Team. This team comprised of one lieutenant, one sergeant, and four correctional officers. The team competed against other counties in California for grant monies to build a new jail facility. The team was awarded an 80-million-dollar grant to build a new jail. Unfortunately, during the 50% design document process, the project was canceled due to the lack of county funds for additional staffing. Once the project ended, she returned online with her fellow Correctional Officers.

In 2019, she was offered and accepted her current position as a full-time Custody Public Information Officer. Jenn’s primary tasks as a public information Officer include covering incidents and events in the custody setting, Sheriff’s Office events in the workplace and within the community, coordinating the Citizens Academy, and any additional responsibilities that may come across her desk. Jenn loves her career choice and encourages others to join the Sheriff’s Office.
