Community Orientated Policing

Community Revitalization & Abatement

Community Revitalization is an important part of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS).

Communities experiencing a social or economic decline due to criminal activity can turn to this unit for help. The improvement in the neighborhood can be measured by lower crime, increased property values, lower insurance, and pride of ownership showing proudly to those who visit the neighborhood.

Calls for service can be directed to the Abatement Unit at (209) 468-4796.

Agricultural, Gang, and Narcotics Enforcement Team (AGNET)

San Joaquin Badge

The Agriculture, Gang, and Narcotics Enforcement Team (AGNET) is a hybrid unit that investigates crimes related to those areas. The unit is formed with detective-level personnel who collaborate together to proactively mitigate agricultural-related crimes, gang activity, and street-level narcotics sales and possession. This unit is also responsible for general enforcement within high crime areas within the county and is commonly assigned to locate and apprehend wanted persons from high profile or violent related crimes.

The Community Car Deputies are responsible for developing a dynamic relationship with the specific community they are assigned to identify quality of life issues and crime trends and resolve those problems through “problem-oriented policing” projects and operations. The philosophies of the Community Car Program are synonymous with Community Oriented Policing and ensuring quality of life for the citizens of San Joaquin County.

The program is overseen by one lieutenant and two sergeants.  Community Car Deputies are currently deployed in Woodbridge, Lockeford/Clements, Morada, Linden, Gianone, Country Club, Garden Acres, and Thornton.
