Trespass Enforcement

Trespass Enforcement Information

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, in partnering with the community to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in San Joaquin County, encourages property owners and/or property managers to complete a trespassing enforcement letter and file it with us. This is an extremely useful tool and is strongly recommended for vacant properties, vacant lots, businesses or any properties experiencing public nuisance activity and/or crime problems, including transient activity, drug activity, graffiti, or general trespass.

A trespass enforcement letter allows deputies to act on behalf of the property owner or manager in trespass situations. Section 602 (o) California Penal Code requires trespass enforcement letters to be signed, notarized and renewed annually. A trespass enforcement letter is valid for twelve months from the day it was filed. Trespass enforcement letters must be submitted on the form provided by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The forms can be submitted in person, by mail or email. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office physical and mailing address is 7000 Michael Canlis Blvd. French Camp CA 95231-9781. Email to samiller@sjgov.org.
