To maintain transparency with the community, and in accordance with AB 2761, we are providing information regarding an in-custody death that occurred at the San Joaquin County Jail.
On Sunday, August 4th, 2024, at 12:40 PM, inmate Tommy Torres, a 53-year-old male, was found unresponsive in his cell, located in the intake area. Life saving measures were attempted to include CPR and Narcan, administered by Medical Staff. At 1:19 PM Torres was pronounced deceased.
The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
