To maintain transparency with the community, and in accordance with AB 2761, we are providing information regarding an in-custody death that occurred at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, CA.
At approximately 5pm on Sunday, August 13, 2023, inmate William Henne, a 40-year-old white male, was found unresponsive in his cell in Medical Housing. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated while emergency responders arrived on scene. Despite these efforts, Henne was pronounced deceased at 5:22 pm, August 13, 2023.
Henne had been in custody since August 10, 2023, and was in the process of serving a 45-day sentence related to possession of a stolen vehicle. Per standard protocol and policy, an investigation into Henne’s death has been initiated and is ongoing.
The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
