To maintain transparency with the community and in accordance with AB2761, our agency is providing information regarding an in-custody death that occurred at the San Joaquin County Jail.
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, shortly after 4:30 PM, a 44-year-old male was found unresponsive in his cell located in the Medical Housing Unit. Life-saving measures were performed, including CPR, until Fire Personnel and Advanced Medical Personnel arrived on the scene to resume care. The Inmate was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, where he was later pronounced deceased. Due to this being an In-Custody Death, a Protocol Investigation was invoked, and Detectives promptly responded, along with Investigators from the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The preliminary manner and cause of death will be determined by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The name of the decedent is pending due to next of kin notification by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
